Device fingerprinting captures technical characteristics of an end device (e.g. browser type, operating system, screen resolution, installed fonts) in order to generate a unique device identifier.
This technology enables the detection of unusual login activity and strengthens fraud prevention – without affecting the user experience.
Once the function is activated, each device will be recognised as a new login.
Device characteristics are collected in the background during the login process.
A unique device ID is created based on these characteristics.
The device ID is used for:
Detection of new or known devices
Login risk assessment
Decision regarding additional authentication steps (e.g., entering an OTP)
By confirming with a verification code during login, devices are marked as trusted.
You can view your known devices at any time in your Raisin online banking. Simply log in, click on your initials in the top right corner, and select the "Login and Security" section.
Advantages
Security: Detection of logins from unknown or suspicious devices.
Compliance: Meeting regulatory requirements for strong customer authentication (SCA) and fraud prevention in accordance with PSD2.
User-friendliness: Support for risk-based authentication with minimal effort for the customer.
Account protection: Early detection and prevention of account takeovers.
Data protection and data processing
No personally identifiable information (PII) is stored in the fingerprint.
Fingerprinting is performed exclusively via a browser and uses hashed, anonymised data .
The processing fully complies with the data protection requirements according to the GDPR .
Important note:
The displayed login location is based on the IP address used at the time of login and not on your exact physical location.
This method is a common security practice, but it is not always perfectly accurate.
